Motorcycle Repair: Electrical, Engine does not turn over on 1993 softail, sorry for the confusion, starter button

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I was riding yesterday on my 1993 softail MooGlide when I revved the engine on 2nd and shifted to 3rd my engine died. I though i was out of gas so I went to reserved but it still would not run. As I coasted i put it back in 2nd and tried to push start it and the engine turned over but would not run. I have power on all the light when the switch is in the on/ignition position but the starter does not turn over. When I hit the start button it does not do anything. This is my first harley so if you can tell me where to start looking I would really appreciate it, thanks in advanced!

QUESTION: Hi Mike,

Sorry for the late response as I was trying to borrow a volt meter. The battery is at 12.60 VDC with the ignition off and when I move the ignition to ON it drops to 12.10 Volts. Let me know what else I should try and thanks for your help on this.

QUESTION: The problem is that I cannot start the bike. As my previous question stated, when I hit the start button the bike does not turn over. It died while I was riding and it does not run now. I do however get power to the lights when the ignition switch is turned on. Please advise, thanks.

Answer
Ok, what we need to do is get the bike running. First, charge the battery over night. Get a test light and with the ignition on see if you have power at the hot wire on the starter button. then push the button and see if you have power going away from the button. If you dont, then you have to trace the wires out to see where the problem lies.
If you do then go to the starter relay and see if you have power going it frome the starter button. If you do then go to the starter and see if you have power going to it from the relay. If you dont, then you have a bad relay.
