Motorcycle Repair: Throttle Sticking, vt750dc, hondas

Question
Hello and thanks for taking the time to help. I have a Honda 2003 VT750DC Shadow. The bike had been dropped on the right side before I bought it. I have since repaired and re painted. However, Upon startup the idle is fine. As soon as I rev the engine and turn the throttle all the back to the idle position it stops at a slightly higher idle. The only way to make it return to normal is gassing it past half way and quickly returning it to idle position. Where should I start troubleshooting.
Thanks

Answer
Sorry Rich, but my experience is with older pre-82 Hondas but I'd start by taking the right hand switch loose and see if it isn't binding up.  A side impact can jam the throttle against the handlebars and make it bind up a little.  If loosening the screws frees things up, you may have bent the locating pin inside the switch.  At least older Hondas had a pin in the body of the switch that kept the throttle housing from turning when you cranked on the throttle.
