Motorcycle Repair: timing belt renewal, honda st1100, fabric belt

I'm thinking of buying a 2002 Honda ST1100 V4 with 128,000 klicks. Is this a worn out bike and does the timing belt need to be repaired? I know the new ST1300 has a chain timing belt, but I think the old one has a fabric belt. What is the normal period for changing the belt?

George, my experience is limited to pre-82 Hondas but a 2002 with 128K miles is impressive.  Someone lived on that bike.  Yea, the timing belts should be replaced pretty soon.  I think on the old GLs recommended belt replacement every 50,000 miles or something like that. If the bike runs good, that's all I'd do to it for now.  Jut check things over real good. If the previous owner took good care of the bike those motors will stand up pretty well.
