Motorcycle Repair: checking the charging system., ac volts, stator

Question
OK Mike I have a Revtech 100 similiar to a Harley. It have the two wire female connection coming out of the stator area on the case. I checked from each of the wires to ground with the engine off and had No continuity. I checked betwn the two wire/connection and had continuity. I replaced the voltage regulator because the battery was Not charging. Still it is not charging so I started the motor and took an amp reading on one of the wires from the stator to the rectifier/regulator and have between 50 and 80 amps depending on rpm. I take an amp reading on the other wire and get 0 amps. No amps on the wire going to the positive of the battery from the regulator..is it the stator?? Sounds to me like a bad wire coming from the stator, what do you think?

Answer
Since you have replaced the regulator and if you know your battery is good, then the only other thing it can be is the stator.
The next time, if ever, youhave to test the stator you need to test it for volts, not amps. You should show around 60 AC volts when you plug a volt meter into the stator and the bike is running
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
