Motorcycle Repair: Bike stalling, gas caps, fuel caps

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 FLSTC. About a month ago it started stalling at high speeds. If I drive around 65 miles an hour or less I can drive all day, but once I start going faster the bike stalls and I have to pull over to the side of the road and turn it over for about 15 seconds before it starts again. Or if I'm going up a steep hill and have to give it extra gas to go up it stalls. It seems like it isn't getting enough fuel. I replaced the fuel filter thinking it might be plugged, took apart and cleaned out the petcock, I've replaced the spark plugs and wires and cleaned the air k&n filter. Was wondering if it could be something with the carb. My model isn't fuel injected. Thanks.

ANSWER: Take the bike out and ride it without one of the gas caps and see if it still stalls and let me know

QUESTION: I thought at first it might be the fuel caps so I replaced both of them with brand new ones a couple of weeks ago. I'll still try it though without one though.

Answer
Another thing to check is remove the air cleaner and when it stalls, shut the petcock off and then pump the throttle. Are you getting a squit of gas down the throat of the carb? Do it again and witht he petcock on give it a shot of gas. Are you getting fuel?
