Motorcycle Repair: Carb slide/diaphram separated, yamaha v max, sugestions

Question
I have a 85 yamaha V-Max and in taking th carbs off to do a cleanup and retune I discovered the diaphram separated from the slide on one of the carbs. The sleeve that holds the two rings that hold the diaphram in place pulled completely out of the slide. My question is, is there a way to fix this, some type of epoxy, glue, insert or mod to the sleeve to hold it in place vs. buying a whole new assembly.  Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

V/R,
Gabe

Answer
A damaged diaphragm usually cannot be repaired but if the rubber is intact you may be able to reattach it. A replacement assembly is still available as an OEM part but costs about $75. Be careful about changing the weight of the slide and they are precisely balanced.
