Motorcycle Repair: 1984 cb700sc engine noise, honda cb700sc, metal particles

Question
I recently purchased a 1984 honda cb700sc nighthawk. After a couple of days riding I started to notice an ticking noise that seems to be coming from cylinder 4. Looking at the official shop manual that was included with the bike I believe it may be the hydralic tappets. The manual says noise from the tappets could be oil or oil filter contamination. I am currently waiting for a oil filter wrench to do a complete oil change. If that does not fix the problem do you have any oter ideas?

Answer
It sounds like a lack of oil pressure to the top end. That could be a worn oil pump, too light weight of engine oil, plugged oil filter or several worse things.  When you get the filter out, cut the media apart and see if you can see any fine metal particles that might indicate a bigger problem.
