Motorcycle Repair: 86 xr100, light glows, stator

Question
i have a brand new alt assy (stator with points on triangular backing plate), good coil - checked at local shop, but no spark...what gives

cap is good, changed condensor (capacitor), check light glows when i kick it over (out put wire to ground connection)
seems like good power to coil but no output from coil ?
do i need a rectifier or cdi or ignition module ?

thank you
rgds will

Answer
No, it's not the ignition module, that year didn't have one. The problem is still in one of the components you've already checked.  If the coil checked good, it's probably still in the points.  The ignition coil gets it's power from the stator when you kick it over.  The points break the connection to ground when they open and the magnetic field in the coil collapses and sends a high voltages charge to the plug. So either the stator is not putting enough energy into the coil to fire the plug or the points aren't breaking the ground properly. Take a VOM and check the points wire and see if they are opening and closing and breaking the circuit as the crank rotates.
