Question
hi I've got a cb550f that was full resto 2 yrs ago. Had been garaged for year.
What steps should i take to get'er runnin again. Ive drained n add fresh gas...
nu batt.. checked for spark.. used starter fluid.. etc. Gotten some good chugs
for as long as holding elec start.. 'like runnin'. but NOT, haha. Also it kicked
over once for bout three secs. Should i replace the plugs? whats next? boilout
carbs? thanks. Evan.

Answer
You need to completely drain the old gas out of the carbs.  There are some drain screws on the bottom of the float bowls you can use to drain them.  If the bike doesn't start with the choke on with new gas, you may have to remove the carbs and clean them. If it starts with the choke but dies as soon as the choke is turned off, you still need a carb cleaning. This is assuming you have spark to the plugs.  If you don't have spark of course, I'd start there.
