Question
hi wanted to know the problem i have with my bike. ok i have a 1986 Honda nighthawk 700.the problem is the bike was running  good then all the sudden it would not idle right and it sounded like it was miss firing out the right side pipe.i had a single pipe on it and put duel pipes on.i have been having problems with my gas tank it needs replaced and i ran the carbs dry .i checked the cdi and coils and wires  they seem to be all working good .but i took the plugs out and the gear shift side wich is left side seemed to be carbend up. so if you have any suggestion please let me know.thanks rick

Answer
Rick, it could be several things.... bad spark plug caps... should be 5k ohms and all four close to the same readings.

Could have a bad fuel petcock, either the screen is plugged up or the petcock diaphragm has failed, if equipped.

Check for parts illustrations at www.bikebandit.com

The plugs fire 1-4 together then 2-3, so if there are problems with those combinations of plugs, it will be electrical. If you have problems with fouling plugs on one or two other cylinders, then you may have fuel feed problems or contamination in the bowls.
