Motorcycle Repair: CHANGING OIL, torque wrench, honda shadow

Question
Can I change the oil on my Honda Shadow VT600 VLX without the special oil filter tool and a torque wrench?  I do not have those tools.

Answer
This is a little tricky because the original Honda filters are a little larger than the typical oil filters so it's hard to get a hold of them to get them off without the right filter wrench.  You certainly can change it without the tool but it makes it easier if you have one.  You can get a strap wrench or one of those adjustable oil filter wrenches from autozone and it will take it off.  When you go to put the new filter back on, spin the filter on until the seal touches the seat and then turn it 3/4 to 1 turn more and it will be just fine.
