Question
I have a 1984 Honda vf500 interceptor. When the bike starts to get a little hot it starts vapor locking.it has a small
fule pump under the tank. looks clean inside.
thanks

Answer
If the bike is a California model it has an extra vent hose fitting that goes to the carbon canister. Be sure that the tank can breathe properly.

The electric fuel pump is run off a relay, on some models. Make sure it is working properly. Check all your vacuum lines to the carb bank, to ensure that all are hooked up correctly. There is a fuel filter in line with the carbs which could be plugged up.

Note that the petcocks have a vacuum diaphragm which can fail, cutting off the fuel supply and generating a vacuum leak at the same time.
