I have cleaned the carburator, and it still spits and sputters, and won't take the gas, trying everything I can before having to get a kit for it. Could you tell me what the problem might be now, and how to go about fixing it - where I don't have to spend a lot of money trying to fix it. Or could the problem be something esle besides the carburator?

Does it run better with the choke on?  If not, it's probably not the carburetors.  The are a number of things that could cause that problem but it would help me to give you better advice if you could tell me if the engine runs good if the choke is applied a little when it acts up.
