Motorcycle Repair: Honda cx500 custom, honda cx500 custom, gas tank

HI i have two things to ask #1 is How do i find what year my bike is  i just baught it and the title says 1988 but im not sure if thay made them that year also it came with no keys so i was wondering if the gas tank key is the same as the mane key if so i can have one made to fit off from the gas tank key thank you for your help.

Well, you can look at the steering head and there should be the VIN tag with the manufacturing date stamped or printed on it. The tank and main key are the same but often some one will replace a tank or the cap or the ignition switch and you'll end up with a mismatch.
