Motorcycle Repair: Honda CT90, time doug, starter fluid

Question
Hello Rich-

I recently recieved a non-running 1972 CT90.  I installed a new coil and was able to get it running for a few seconds with starting fluid.  Good, yes.  I did this twice and have now noticed the lights no longer come on when turning the key to the on position and the bike will no longer start.  Is there a possibility that I have got the polarity wrong and have smoked my new $105.00 coil?

Thank you for your time.

Doug

Answer
That bike requires a charged battery to start and run.  So I'm guessing your battery is dead. The bike should have run without starter fluid.  I'm thinking you'll need to clean the carbs well before it will run the way you want.

Good luck
