Motorcycle Repair: 1995 honda shadow vlx dlx, honda shadow vlx, starter solenoid

Bike fires and runs great until it is hot, and then it wont click at all. The lights wont even dim at start attempt. After it cools it fires and runs great. All the lights work, power is good, etc.
Starter , solinoid? Where do i start.

Does the bike die once it is hot, or just will not start if you shut it off.  Also, when it will not start is the starter turning the bike over and it will not sputter/fire, or is the whole system dead, ie when you hit the button nothing happens no noise, etc.  I assume it is the second condition. In that case I would start with the starter & solenoid.  As you guessed something is getting hot, expanding, and the contacts no longer touch.
