Question
i bought an old honda cd200 roadmaster which was in storage for over a year without starting. i took it to my nearest honda dealership and they managed to start it. the next day it didnt start, so i took it back to honda. now they say the problem is low compression but they cant fix it because they dont know what it should be! please help with any advice. thanks

Answer
Paul,
The bike should fire/sputter/start if it has even a little bit of compression.  What did the shop do?  Hopefully, flush the gas tank, remove and clean the carbs, change the oil, clean/change the air filter, and inspect for the typical bug/animal nests.  If a bike has been sitting for a while I like to remove the plug and inject a  little bit of light weight oil like MARVEL MYSTERY OIL and kick it over 15-20 times to free any stuck rings/valves and lube everything before the run test.  I am surprised the shop didn't do a compression leak down test to see where the compression loss is coming from.  If the gas is new, the carbs clean, and you have a strong spark then the next step would be the leak down test.
