Motorcycle Repair: Honda Brakes, cb900 custom, clear plastic tubing

Question
What is the correct proceedure for bleeding the front disc brakes on a 1982 CB900 Custom?

Answer
I like to use one of those mini-vac pumps to evacuate the line while I work the air out. It just seems to go faster that way for me.  They are a pain in the rear to bleed but if you keep working at it, it eventually will work its way out.  I put a piece of clear plastic tubing on the bleed screw so I can see when the air stop coming out.  I then pump the brake lever several times while the bleed screw is closed and then hold in the brake lever and open the screw.  A very small amount of air or fluid will come out at first but eventually it will get to be a stronger stream and then things will firm up.  Just make sure you keep the reservoir full or it will take a very, very long time.
