Motorcycle Repair: drive chain removal, gunky, swing arm

Question
How does my son take the chain off of his '76 honda cb550k?  It's old and gunky and my son's turning the bike into a cafe racer.  We'd like to clean the chain, lube it up and adjust it.  But, for the life of me, I don't see how to remove it.  It doesn't have a master link like my old bicycle, and his Clymer doesn't cover this AT ALL!  thx, Dave

Answer
There's only one way to get the chain off...well two if you include removing the swing arm.  You need a chain breaking and staking tool. If you look closely, you will find a link that has been staked.  That's the master link.  You can grind the stake off and then drive it out with a punch but you'll have to use a clip type master link or get a stake type master link to replace it.  The staked links are stronger and more reliable but a pain if you are racing.  Since you will be checking before every race, a clip type link would probably work okay.
