Motorcycle Repair: winter storage, long cold winter, spring drain

Question
With riding season upon us and winter a while off, I was wondering how to prepare to store my 1972 FLH Shovelhead for storage for the long cold winter months in Colorado?
Thank you.

Answer
When you are done riding, change your fluids. Fill the gas tank to the top. Start and run the bike until it warms up and shot off the petcock so the bike runs out of gas and the carb is dry. Put some stablelizer in the gas tank, or in the spring drain the tank adn put in fresh gas. Put a battery tender on the battery so it will stay charged over the winter. And last, put a bike cover over it to keep the dirt off
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
