Motorcycle Repair: GL1100, brake calipers, wheel bearing

Question
I recently purchased an 81 GL1100, with a new rear tire. After riding about 40 miles, I found the rear brake had gotten hot enough to melt the caliper on the wheel side. It seems the wheel is cocked too the left. The rotor is rubbing the caliper bracket. Is there an alignment procedure for this shaft drive rear tire?

Answer
Nope...there's no alignment required. It's not uncommon to have the brake calipers bind up.  There are o-rings in the calipers that seal the pistons.  The brake fluid reacts with moisture and creates a varnish around the o-rings causing the pistons to stick in the bore and the brakes to drag.

Since you said the wheel is actually cocked, it has to be a wheel bearing that is allowing the wheel to run out of alignment. I've never seen anything quite like this before so please let me know what you find.

Thanks
