Motorcycle Repair: loses power during deceleration, neutral position, deceleration

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1997 road king with EFI. When I decelerate, the ignition seems to shut down until the throttle gets to a neutral position. It has the same effect as turning off the ignition. When it gets to a neutral position on the throttle, it seems to turn the ignition back on and if gear engaged, I get a little surge. Is that normal?

ANSWER: If you pull the clutch in when this happens is the motor still running?

QUESTION: Yes, it doesn't die, it acts like it loses power until it either gets to a neutral load on the throttle or gets to idle. I go down the road, decelerate and it acts like you turn off the ignition switch(I turned off the ignition switch and it had the same effect) until you accelerate again or it gets near idle. If I go down the road and let off the throttle, it coasts down and when it tells the ignition to turn back on, it gives a little surge like you turned the ignition switch back on..

Answer
If the motor doesnt die then the bike is not losing power, it has just cut back on fuel, dince you are not using any for power. if you are coasting in gear, close to idle, you will get surges in power. I dont htink there is anything wrong with your bike.
Good luck and happy riding
