If you mean the fork seals, they
can leak awhile but you lose some
fork oil over time. This affects the
handling of the bike and safety too.

They also keep dust and dirt off the
fork tubes.
How long they last depends on the conditions
they are used in. On the street they
may last longer than on the dirt.

If you mean engine seals, they should be
replaced as soon as possible as engine
damage could result from lack of oil.
