Motorcycle Repair: Removing seat, rear cowl, vf700

I have a 1984 Magna 750.  How do I remove the seat so I can service the battery ?

Paul,

it depends on the model.
One has 3 bolts,
one on the top rear and one on each side
of the bike where the front/rear seats meet.
Pull the seat up and rearward to remove.
It hooks under the frame at the front.

On the VF700, I think you have to
open the helmet lock and pull the latch.

On the interceptor model, you turn
the key lock anti-clockwise? to release the seat
after first removing the rear cowl, two bolts
one on each side. The battery is under
the side cover on these though.
