Motorcycle Repair: 98 Road King cuts out spontaneously, factory fuel injection, fuel injection system

Question
QUESTION: My 98 Roadking has this problem where I'm riding in top gear, say at 100ks,
or even third, whatever, and it just cuts out. I slow down, stop, wait anywhere
from 3-15 minutes, try to start it, maybe no, maybe yes, get going, then it
happens again. It's spontaneous, intermittent and so far we haven't been able
to pinpoint the problem. Put it in the shop for the mechanic to look at but he
couldn't find the fault and it didn't happen while they had it (hate that!). Sped
the idle up a bit which sorta helped but it's still happening. Any ideas or had
to sort this out before? Gotta sort it so I can sell it and go back to a shovel!

ANSWER: When it shuts off pull a plug and see it you are getting spark or not and let me know.

QUESTION: Hi Mike. First let me say the road king has the factory fuel injection system ,
and yes when it has stopped i have pulled a plug lead , and have spark to the
plugs .As i hit the starter button , the motor turns over but will not start. I
can be stuck on the side of the road , any where from ten to twenty minuets
then it will start. The problem is becoming more frequent and frustrates the
Crap out of me . The factory trained mechanic plugged the bike into there
diagnostic machine, hopeing the bike might cut out while it was on the
machine , but they couldnt  get it to do it . They said they checked the fuel
presure , the heat censor in the cylinder head , and the crank case presure
censor and all seemed OK , I rode the bike away three hours labor poorer and
no better off . Thanks Bund.

Answer
Its probably either your bank angle senser or your cam position senser. the problem is you have to get it to shut off so the dianostic can be run or you wont know which one it is, unless you just start chenging them out.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
