Motorcycle Repair: 73 RT3 Voltage regulator, mag wire, rt3

Mr.Samel, I am adding a 6 volt reg. to save headlamps. (as per your advise in another question). This reg.only has one lead so I take it the lead halftaps into the mag lead( Red/Green). Am I looking at this correctly or does the reg. lead wire in another way.  Thanks for your wisdom.

If it is a Yamaha 6volt regulator
you might want to tap into the yellow
mag wire as it is the one that goes
to the hi/lo beam switch and on to the
headlight.

The red/green is a charging
circuit wire but may not affect the
voltage at the headlight itself.
This wire may be used just for charging the battery.

It shouldn't hurt to try it and
check the resulting voltage on
either wire.

NOTE: These regulators divert the excess voltage to
ground so make sure the case is well grounded
before you do any testing.
