Motorcycle Repair: static timing, harley fxr, static timing

QUESTION: I would be grateful if you can tell me how to do the static timing on a 1993 harley fxr,thanks

ANSWER: Are you running points or electronic? If electronic, is it stock?

Answer
Remove the timing plug and locate top dead center. Go to the points and rotate the adjuster, just until the points are starting to open with the advance weights outward. If you dont turn the weights to fully advanced you will be off.
