Motorcycle Repair: S&S motor, seat pan, fuel system

Question
Not sure what it is doing!! It will run ok for a few seconds and then you hit a bump and it starts spiting and will back fire and  die, wait a few seconds and it will start back up and it is fine for a few seconds. I have checked the fuel system, it is all clean. Any guess on where i should look from here? It is a 1999 CMC with 113 S&S EVO. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Donny,

Sounds like maybe a shorted wire rubbed through, or possibly a ground that looses connection when you hit a bump. One other thing you may want to check is to make sure your battery is secure in its place. If you hit a bump and the battery jumps, theres a good chance it may be hitting one or both terminals on the seat pan which should be bolted down to complete a chassis ground from the battery hitting it shorting the system or confusing the ECM. When you do an ignition cycle that would reset the ecm to start from its original program.

Hope this helps!
