Motorcycle Repair: warming/running problems, shadow spirit, honda dealer

Question
I have an '04 Shadow Spirit 1100 with 4600 miles on it.  It does not get ridden as much as it probably should.  Recently it has developed an issue where it takes quite a while to warm up and even once warm, it is boggy in first gear.  Once the rpms are up and the bike is moving, it seems to have less power, but still moves pretty well.  Just had 4000 mile maintenance done but they did not tell me that anything looked amiss.  I have not pulled plugs (this afternoon's project).  Any thing else in particular I can look at before engaging the local Honda dealer's service department?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Answer
Hi Steve,
If the bike has sat for any lenght of time, anywhere from 4 weeks to 3 months, since last was ridden, I wouold try draining the tankand replaceing with fresh gas...It doesnt sound like you need a carb clean, but old fuel will definately case "sluggish" running as you mentioned. This crappy new reformulated fuel keeps me in the carb cleaning business!

Hope this helps!
