Motorcycle Repair: suzuki volusia wont start, ape hangers, clutch lever

Question
Hello, I have a 04 suzuki volusia I just added 20" ape hangers and extended all the wiring. I twisted and soldered each connection and used heatshrink tubing to protect the connection. I'm 99% sure it's right i,ve tested the driver side wiring where the start swithch is and have checked for continuity on the switches involved. I did discover one fuse blown for the ignition and have replaced it, also replaced the battery because it seamed not to be holding a charge and was almost 4 years old. still the starter wont turn over when I crank it. Im wondering if there is some kind of kill switch that shuts off the ignition if disturbed you kind of like on cars if they're in an accident there's a shut off switch that automatically shuts off gas flow and has to be manually reset to make the motor come on again. All other functions are working ie lights brakes turn signal etc. Any help would be apprecieatd thank you.

Answer
Dan,

-the power for starting comes from the fuse box possibly
from a relay and goes through your
kill switch to the starter button. (o/b o/w wires)

-It then travels on to the starter relay or solenoid.(y/g wire)
The solenoid then has to ground through the
clutch switch and side stand switch.

-check for power to the solenoid when you push your
starter button. If there is power it is likely
the ground circuit (y/g y/b wires) through the side stand or
clutch lever switch that is the problem.

-if no power is getting to the solenoid check
the fuses, relays, kill switch and wiring.
Some of the wire colors I mentioned could vary depending
on the year, model etc.

-I believe the tip-over sensor was used from 2005 on.
