Motorcycle Repair: 1988 883 sporster clutch, starter problems, locknut

Question
O.K., what the f. i replaced the starter on a 1988 883 sporster that i traded a truck for it was running fine till i had starter problems. now 9i took the front chain cover off so that i could get at the starter bolts well any how now i am having a bitch of a time with the clutch what the f. i tried going tight on both ends slack on one or the other and nothing is working is there a trick to getting this thing dialed in or what.

Answer
First, put alot of slsck in the cable, so your going to shorten it. Now, push the cable, not the cover, back towards the case. Go to the adjuster and screw inward, until it touches and then back out just a little. Put the locknut in. Go to the cable and adjust it outward, until you have abut 1/8 inch play in the lever. Button everything up and your good to go.
Good luck and happy riding
