Motorcycle Repair: 97 xl1200c, crank case, piece of dirt

Question
rode bike 20 miles with carb flooding. fuel got into crankcase. drained replaced oil/filter. started bike and its blowing oil out a open hose i think to be a vent from the back of the crankcase. is there a crank case plug that i should have drained ? if so its location as i know one is the primary drain. help.

Answer
You probably had oil sitting in the bottom end and when you started it, it blew out. reason for this is, if there is to much oil in the bottom end, the oil pump cant pump it out fast enough and it comes out the vent. It is because there is a ball check valve that is suppose to keep the oil from draining into the bottom end from the oil tank. the ball might have had a small piece of dirt in it and the oil weeped through.
Good luck and happy riding
