Motorcycle Repair: 88 Evo Oil leak, reserve tank, oil tank

Question
When I turn the engine over (bike wont start) I hear a gurgling sound from the reserve tank (half full and below the dipstick) and after cranking the oil comes out of the drain hose at the bottom of the engine block. Never had thsi problem before. Have to ride the bike to go buy a quart of oil to fill the reserve tank but afraid the oil will flow out of the engine and ruin it.  Could it be the oil pump, as you mentioned in a previous post?

What is happening is the check valve in the oil pump is weeping through and you end up with oil in the bottom end of the motor. When you start the bike the oil pump cant pump it back fast enough, so it comes out he vent. that is the reason your oil tank is low also. Start the bike and it will clear itself.
