Motorcycle Repair: Heating engine or tranny, custom chopper, oil coolers

Question
Hi,
I have a custom chopper with a 113 ci to it. I get up in the morning and ride to work and on the way here I have problems shifting down expecially on hot days.
I have oil coolers and that is all for the cooling anyway but I'm not sure if it is the oil, or eng, or ?
What could be the problem and can I do anything about it.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Paul,
Almost every manufacturers' engine have thier own qwirks, however, Its pretty common for the primary chain slack to be a big issue with shifting issues. Weather its too loose or too tight, either one can cause these symptoms. One other thing to have a HD tech take a look at is the 3rd gear centering, This will alighn the shaft the 3rd gear rides on, and as well its the one in the center that will also alighn all of the other gears as well...

Hope this helps!
