Motorcycle Repair: 2003 FLHT Standard with electrical problem, battery cables, electrical problem

Mike, I have a 03 FLHT that has an intermittent electrical problem. At approximately 500 miles the battery goes dead and the bike quits running. This has happened three times so far, I have replaced the battery every time. I have 14.6 volts at battery with bike running / 12.6 volts with key off / and 12.3 volts with key, headlight, and radio on with-out the bike running. I have cleaned the battery cables and checked for loose/corroded wires. Have you seen this problem before and do you have any suggestions where I can start looking ? Thanks in advance  Brian

I would start by hooking a volt meter to the battery and go for a ride and keep an eye on the meter. So if the battery is always charging.
The only resons the battery would go dead is the system is not charging or you have a short. If you had a short, however the bike would run rough.
