Motorcycle Repair: 1991 katana 600 throttle problems, float bowl, narrow tube

Question
i have a katana that sat for manny years. ran befor it sat. cleaned out carbs
adjusted everything to clymers specs. idles alright when i hit the throttle it starts
to die out. im guessing too much air/not enough fuel? or possible vacum leak?

Answer
Tom,
This could be a vaccum issue, but more likely to be plugged pilot jets in the carbs. I understand you have already cleaned them, plus they are NOT the easiest to remove and get to, however the PILOT jets are normally the easist to be overlooked mainly because they are hidden inside of a narrow tube in the carb once the float bowl is removed...Plus make very sure you have drained AND flushed all of your old fuel out as old gas will really do the same thing, seen it many times...

Hope this helps!
