Motorcycle Repair: 2006 Dyna sputter and surging, dyna low rider, electronic diagnostics

Question
QUESTION: Hi again. I wrote to you a while back about my 2006 Dyna low rider sputter. I followed your advice and brought my bike back to the dealership when it did this surging and sputter again. I was told that I might have bad gas as they could not replicate the problem. They put in new gas, they checked the fuel pump, fuel lines, anything that could be causing the problem. They said that they recommend the 5 5 download. Do you know what that does? They say it will be a richer mix of fuel. I had a software download done before when I had these new slip on mufflers and air kit installed by them. I don't know what download they did before. I am about ready to have them put back my stock mufflers and air kit back on. What do you think. Thank you.

ANSWER: I dont use the harley down loads, I write my own, so I am not sure what the 5.5 down load is.
One question, has the bike always done this problem since you made the changes and had the dowm load?

QUESTION: Yes, I think that must be the problem. I actually had the download wrong, its a 15 50 download. They did tell me it will be a richer mix of fuel. If this does not work, I will probabley have them install my original mufflers and remap. They asked me to wait and see if this download they will be doing will solve the problem first.

ANSWER: That is the only problem I have with harley downloads. They are generic. WHen I do it I am taking a reading from the exhasut and making adjustments

QUESTION: Hi again Mike. Thank you for all your help. Do you know of anyone in Southern California that does remapping like you do? I wish I was in Ohio so that I could bring my bike to you. Any referral or link to someone here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Answer
Go to the web site www.technoresearch.com. When you get that up click vehicle electronic diagnostics. when that comes up click the same thing, but under products. Look on the right under tuning centers and click your area and it will give you a list of the shops that do the same thing that I do.
Good luck and happy riding
