Motorcycle Repair: 1988 xl, stock clutch, clutch

mike , i removed a hd clutch spring & put in a new stock clutch spring in so the wife could ride it. whats the trick to adjusting the clutch primary screw & cable ? thanks , rich

Answer
Adjust the cable so it has aslot of slack in it and push the cable back towards the primary. Now, install the nut and adjust he clutch just until it touches and then back out about 1/8 of a turn. Install the other parts and adjust the cable so you have about 1/8 inch play in it
