Motorcycle Repair: 2002 Dyna Wide Glide Charging problem, stator, voltage regulator

Question
Mike,

I have read answers you gave to another owner of a 2002 Dyna Wide Glide who was experiencing charging problems.  I have replaced my battery, because I thought it was bad.  I also replaced the voltage regulator, and cleaned all connections from the battery to the starter and the battery to ground.  After all this the voltage at the battery while running the bike is still lower than the voltage was prior to starting.  I tested my Stator wires and get up to 60 VAC when increasing the throttle.  It is puzzling.  Anyhow, I did the ohm test as you specified to the other own, and I don't seem to get any real ohm readings when checking each wire to ground or checking between the two wires themselves.  The readings at the stator are around 0.1 to 0.3 or 0.4 ohms.  Does this mean I have to replace the Stator (even when getting good Volts AC)?

Thanks,

Bill

Answer
You should not get any OHMs from stator to ground, but you should get OHMs from pin to pin.Since you replaced the regulator and battery, the only other thing it could be is the stator, unless you have a broken wire from the regulator to the battery
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
