Motorcycle Repair: Measuring RPMs, cyl engines, panka

Question
I have an RPM meter that works for 8,6 and 4 cyl engines.
In order to obtain a reading for 4cyl I have to double the 8 cyl readings. Do you know if I quadrupled the 8 cyl reading would I get the 2 cyl reading?

Answer
Hi Allen,

Please believe me, Im not trying to be a "smarty pants" however for future referance, what you are speaking of is usually called more commonly a "Tach. OR Tachometer"
In any event, You may be able to Quadruple the wires, however, if it does do damage, its only going to toast a Tach that wasnt meant for a bike anyway.
Next, Personaly, there are usually Tachs available aftermarket if it doesn't work, but thats the route I would go..

Hope this helps!
