Motorcycle Repair: Starter Issue, honda rebel, panka

Question
Hi,
I have an older bike (Honda rebel 1986) with a starter motor problem.  It quit working out of the blue one day, so I took it apart, cleaned it, put it back on and it worked for about two days.  Now it works some days, and not on others.  It gave one false start, one time.  Can I fix this with a rebuild kit, or should I get a new starter?

Answer
Hi John,

The last thing you want is starter issues when you least expect it, god knows it'll happen at the worst time...
Try finding a "parts unlimited" dealer Or maybe just go to www.Partsunlimited.com and order one from there. They are considerably less and just as good as a factory starter for a fraction of the cost.
As cheap as the kits are, it doesn't replace the bearings, so Personally, I won't chance it..

Hope this helps!
