Motorcycle Repair: 96 honda cbr 600, honda cbr 600, wattage bulbs

Sorry i know u do harleys but mine are pretty simple questions. I have a straight header exhaust pipe with no muffler ending under the right foot peg will this damage the engine or help? Also my blinker bulbs are melting my blinkers on the sides. One has burnt out and the other isnt but melting. What is the problem you think?

Hi Charles,

Not having a muffler on your system will NOT give the engine proper back pressure and eventually can cause engine damage like bunt valves or worse. I wouldn't suggest it....there are too many companies out there that make different sounds to have to go without a muffler at all..Guys do it when they proffessionally drag race, but then again, they only make just a few passaes with that engine before its rebuilt from top to bottom...so the dammage will be to a minimum anyway..

As far as the blinkers go, i would say you have the incorrect bulb in the socket which is too big. I know there are sometime different size and wattage bulbs for the same socket which can get confusing, I know, but make sure you have the correct one for you application and everything should be fine..
