Motorcycle Repair: 1978 honda hawkomatic 400, pilot jet, slow jet

Question
I was wondering if you could tell me what size jets are supposed to be in the primary, and what is supposed to be in the secondary. One other question is I have a black plug in the other orifice and not in the other carb, should there be one in each? Thanks in advance Paul

Answer
Paul,

Primary jet is #72 and Secondary (main jet) is #105.
Yes there should be a rubber plug over the
slow jet or you may not get the proper fuel
mixture. Bike may be hard to start or run
poorly at low speeds.
The plugs should be available from Honda or
search for "fuel passage plug" or
"rubber pilot jet plug" and somebody
should have something. They need to
fit tight enough so they don't leak and
have to be the right length.
Take your carb around to a few dealers
and see if they have anything to fit.
