Motorcycle Repair: 1976 Honda CB200T Clutch Cable Replacing, clutch lever, cable adjusters

Question
Hi. My clutch cable recently snapped and I have a new cable to replace the
broken one. Is this a difficult job to do? Could you maybe give me an idea on the
steps I need to take? Thanks!

You need to slacken the cable adjusters on both ends... handlebar and right side crankcase cover. Remove the chrome cover from the right side cover to expose the clutch lever. Remove the remainder of the cable from the bike and reroute the new cable back as the old one was directed. If you tie the end of the new cable to the old one, you may be able to snake it through the chassis without removing the fuel tank and seat. If the cable is strapped to the frame with a small strap or band, you will have to free it up from those first.
This may require removing the fuel tank or at least loosening it on the mounts so you can roll it aside to access the cable straps, if necessary.

Reattach the cable at the engine side, then back into the clutch lever. With the cable adjusters at full slack you may be able to just install the cable at the handlebar with the cable adjuster slots lined up with the slot on the lever bracket and then insert the cable end. If things are on the short side, remove the lever from the bracket, unscrewing the pivot bolt, after removal of the nut.

Once the cable is in place, use the adjuster at the bottom end of the cable (engine side) to make most of the adjustment, so that the handlebar cable adjusters are doing the final fine tuning. Leave about 1/8" slack at the clutch lever and you should be good to go.
