Motorcycle Repair: 92 CBR 600F2 problems, compression check, oil light

Question
So, i was riding on the highway, doing anywhere from 60-70mph. I approached a hill, maybe a 10 - 15 degree incline. I downshifted and suddenly the bike wouldn't accelerate any more. The bike wouldn't go at all and the speed started to slowly drop. I would try to give it throttle and it wouldn't do anything. I downshifted again and the bike continued to slow down. Eventually, i made it over to the shoulder and the bike just completely died. As I slowed down, it began to shake a bit and the motor didn't sound right at all. Right before i completely stopped, the oil light came on. As i waited for my friends to turn around and get back to me, i tried starting it again. It sounded fine so i tried to start it moving again and the same thing happened. The oil light came on right before it died again. I checked the oil and it was low. So my friends went a grabbed a quart of oil for me. Once we got the oil in, i started riding again and the bike felt fine. Got about a mile and the same thing happened again. There are no leaks anywhere. When i try to start the bike, it will start with the choke all the way on, but still sounds abnormal. The bike dies when I open the choke.

I don't know what to do from here! Please help!!!

Answer
Mike,

-it might just be a fuel problem, but from
your description I would suggest doing
a compression check before spending alot
of time on other things.
-If the cylinders are near the same pressure, (150-up)
start with checking easier things first, spark plugs, air
filter, fuel filter, fuel valve and
fuel flow to the carbs.
-Check the gas tank vent for obstructions. It's under
the gas tank, hose comes out near the left side.
-A clue to fuel problems is that it starts with the choke on,
which suggests you are not getting fuel
or you have a big air leak on the intake somewhere.
