Motorcycle Repair: 3 wheeler, honda 110, bikebandit com

Question
I have an 85 Honda 110 ATC witha transmission/clutch problem. When shifting into a higher gear the trans. does not engage sometimes and the wheeler comes to a rolling stop but stays running, the trans. will go into gear if you try shifting up or down though at that point, but hard. For example if you were in 2nd gear and try shifting into 3rd the wheeler will roll to a stop, at that point u could shift back into 2nd or into 3rd. Try to help me out. Thanks

Answer
Tyler,

very hard to tell without being there,
could be clutch not releasing but
more likely worn shifter parts,
possibly a shifter spring

or wear on shift drum, shift forks or
gear dogs. Would have to remove the
clutch cover and try to isolate the
problem from inside, try shifting
the transmission and watching the
action of the various parts involved.
It may require a technician to
find the problem unless you
are handy and have a shop manual/tools.
