Motorcycle Repair: Carb 03 softail standerd, air fuel mixture, air screw

Question
Where is the fuel/air screw on the carb? My bike is coughing when I roll into the throttle, just does it every now and then, harley stage one air filter, 48 jet, Samson 10 degree upsweep shotgun pipes no baffels. The bike started coughing after I put the pipes on, re-jetted carb It fixed the problem now its started again 20,000 miles on bike. The bike is hard to start at times when the engine is warm. I have found I can open the throttle wide open and it starts better. You would think if the bike is lean I wouldn't have to do that. It has new plugs(light gray)and a new fuel filter.

Answer
The air/fuel mixture screw is located on the bottom of the carb. There is a plug covering it. You have to drill the plug and put in a screw to pull it out. Be careful to drill in the center and not allt he say through so you dont hit the mixture screw and the threads.
I would suggest getting a Dyna-jet kit. It give you everthing you need to make your carb work a little better and give you more throttle responce. It also has the bit and screw to remove the plug.
Good luck and happy riding
