Motorcycle Repair: 2003 yamaha rapor, secondary windings, ac volts

Question
i have a 2003 yamaha rapor that will not start, it turn over all day long,i just replace the coil because the first coil had high resistance in the secondary windings( no help. i'm getting 27.1 ac volts from the cdi magneto(pick up coil resistance is 326 ohms with a range of 297-363 ohms and the source coil resistance of 408 with a range of 342-418 ohms),i'm getting .4 ohms when the engine stop switch is in the off position and the same for the main switch, i'm getting a spark with the new coil ( also had a spark with the old coil). i did bye pass the main switch and the engine stop switch.( engine still turned over with a spark) would not start running.help i'm running out of ideas. how do i check the cdi box?

Answer
Mike,

-If you have spark, it's likely the ignition
is working or at least it's trying. Coils
secondary resistance is usually 12000 ohms.

-Have you checked for compression and tried
spraying something like carb cleaner or wd40
into the intake and see if it fires on it?
Maybe it's a fuel problem.

-Resistance checks don't always help as electronic
parts can still malfunction even if new.
CDI box or control units can not be accurately
tested, replacement is the only test for these.
Most manufacturers don't give any specs for
testing these units.

-If you have no spark, I suspect the pickup-coil
and/or bad grounds on the pickup or engine to
frame.
