Motorcycle Repair: Honda 305 Scrambler, candy colors, napa store

Question
I have 14 305 scramblers and going to work on the 1968 CL77. Do you happen to know the paint code for the color orange on the tank and side covers and was that the only year they had that color? Thanks John.

Answer
John, that is quite a collection of Scramblers!!!

The paint code color is just Candy Orange, also used on the 1968 CL175KOs and a few other models from that time frame. Honda never showed even their paint code in the parts bulletins for the last of the CL77s. Candy colors generally use a Silver base coat then the Candy color over the top. If you have or can find a decent OEM part with that color, you can color match it at an automotive paint store or perhaps a  NAPA store that has paint matching and blending services.

Duplicolor and Color-Rite are paint sources which may have the original color blends.

CL77s went out of production in 1967, but carryover machines were titled as to when they were sold, not manufactured.  I have restoration guides available on CDROM, if needed. Sounds like you are pretty much tuned into them, though.
