Motorcycle Repair: honda V45 magna, honda v45 magna, tiny holes


Question
I have a 1986 V45 magna which was running fine till today. I changed the plugs but its running rough and i seem to not have top end it starts to spit kinda. I did have bike not running in shed from last july till just 2 days ago. could it be a fule carb problem?????

-by your description of the problem, it sounds
like it may be having some fuel problems.
-First check that your fuel is getting from the
gas tank to the carbs. The fuel tap may
be plugged or fuel filter. Check the air filter too.
-If the supply looks okay, I suspect the
main jet tubes may be gummed up. They
are above the main jets and have many tiny holes
that need to be cleaned.
-The fuel can get bad in less than a month and
you had it stored quite awhile.
-The carbs could be very dirty or varnished up
from the old gas.
-The ignition pulse unit could act up, but
because it was stored I would clean the carbs
and fuel system first and see if it helps.
There is also a vent on your gas tank that
needs to be clear for gas to flow.
